Because Kelpies have always fascinated me, and there just isn't enough kelpie art out there.

Feel free to offer any suggestions/critiques! This is for a class assignment, and I still have 2 weeks before I turn it in.

OOH! A kelpie!
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but whenever I hear Kelpie, I think of the Spiderwick Chronicles XD

wow that is really scary and really cool!!! I love how it blends in with its surroundings but its eye provides a contrast to the rest of the painting

*wolf whistles* Hey there sexy kelpie! That's right, I'm hitting on you, so hopefully you don't eat me.
Anyway, yeah you're right. There isn't enough kelpie art out there. This is one heck of a magnificent piece though. You did an amazing job on the kelpie and the background just looks so amazingly creepy!

Holy shit... I'm... rather freaked out right now... And it's not because of the drawing in itself, it's just... Las year, I had a project in school, and the theme was horses. I choosed to work about the brook horse, and before deciding about what to paint, I did some sketches. One of them, a head portrait, looked almost EXACTLY as this ones head. O_O
I swear, for a moment I thought someone had stolen my sketch, but I know that's just impossible...
...creepy...

Anyways! I really like it!
The atmosphere is really cool ^^

Yeah, particularly seeing as how this piece is nearly 3 years old.

But I think the head pose is rather common for kelpie art. I've seen numerous sketches using the same mouth design.

This is the first drawing of a Kelpie I've seen that's been looking just like mine did O_o
