I was recently hired to do some freelance work featuring the Grand River of northwestern Michigan. My client also wanted me to include the different types of land in the area (city, suburban, rural) so the background consists of the city of Grand Rapids, the suburban areas, the apple orchards, and finally the farmlands.
The animals are all native, and I must say that salmon and Brook trout are exceptionally fun to draw. And not to mention delicious. ^^
The illustration was designed for 8.5"x11" presentation folders and I'll be getting a copy of my own once they're delivered from press. Which is awesome, because I'll have an example of my work in application.
This took me around 32 hours from concept to finish over the course of 5 days. I had to finish it before I left for vacation so I was literally working on in every moment when I wasn't at my steady job.

This is lovely! I'm a southwest michigan native, and think you've captured the general feeling of GR and the surrounding country very well. The colors and textures are perfect. <3

As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.

I've been doing a lot of abstract painting lately. Extremely abstract. No brush, no paint, no canvas. I just think about it.
