The three Sirens were said to be the companions of Persephone, and were given wings by Demeter to aid in their search when she was abducted by Hades. Half-bird and half-women, they sing to any ship that passes near their island. Their voices were so enchanting and their music so irresistible that they lured any victim to a shipwrecked death upon the rocky coast.
